DELTA ARM FOR PACKAGING MACHINE

CLIENT

Delta Robots are packaging machines consisting of mechanical arms that perform very rapid alternating movements. The light weight of the arm is critical to reduce inertia and power consumption while increasing speed.

Making a component that is (simultaneously) lightweight, vibration resistant, robust, and reliable.

The Delta arm is one of the first packaging machine components designed by Loson. Created in 2007, it has been produced in hundreds of units that have operated for years without failure.

Carbon fiber was chosen for its manufacture. In order to combine strength and lightness, a mixed structure was devised that includes thermoplastic materials, which can halve the weight compared to carbon alone, and increase the cross-sectional area while ensuring greater rigidity.

For the same weight, it is possible to make larger arms than in metal. This offers the possibility of standardizing design, making machines of different sizes with the same structural components or motors, thus lowering production costs.
